With heavy hearts, family and friends remember Hunter James Brock of Wagener, South Carolina, who entered into rest on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the age of 20. Though his time on earth was brief, the impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten.
Hunter was a young man full of life, passion, and purpose. He had a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy in deer hunting and fishing—especially the time he spent alongside his beloved Papa. Those moments in nature were more than hobbies; they were part of who Hunter was, places where he felt most at peace and most himself.
He was also driven by a fearless spirit, dedicating himself to bull riding with dreams of one day pursuing it as a career. That determination reflected his boldness and willingness to chase what he loved without hesitation. Whether in the arena or in everyday life, Hunter lived with heart and courage.
Professionally, Hunter took pride in his work as a tree arborist, contributing his skills to Shealey’s Property Care and McCollum’s Tree Care. He approached his work with dedication and a strong work ethic, earning the respect of those he worked alongside.
Above all else, Hunter’s greatest love was his family. He is deeply cherished by his parents, Jennifer Star Counts and Jason Ellis Brock; his siblings, Haley Brock and Ivy Carver; and his grandparents, Gaylon “Granny” and Larry “Papa” Kitching, Lana “Nana” Brock, and James “Jimmy” Brock. He also leaves behind his niece, Cynthia Brock, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends who will carry his memory forward. His loyal companion, his beloved dog Spur, was also a special part of his life.
Hunter was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mike Counts, and his uncles, Jonathan Widener and Mark Brock.
Those who knew Hunter remember a young man who loved deeply, laughed freely, and lived fully. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his memory will continue to live on in the stories shared and the love he gave.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Blizzard Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where Hunter was a member, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Hunter James Brock will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered. May he rest in peace.
